Where it all started!

Although they prefer to be "behind the scenes", The Kimberley Australia Instagram Account was started by local guide, Scotty Connell, and his sister, Melissa, with the goal to showcase one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Australia.
The spectacular Kimberley scenery and experiences are captured by our team, our ambassadors and our followers.
Of course, our greatest desire is to inspire you to visit and experience our special part of the world. However, we know many cannot make it so we also want to bring the Kimberley to you.
Transitions
As @thekimberleyaustralia grew, Scotty and Melissa saw the need to create space and information specific to the Kimberley and so began "Destination Kimberley". It's certainly a destination for your bucket list ... and one to continue to return to.
The pandemic of 2020+ brought travel to a bit of a halt and many things were changing in the world. After such a phenomenal effort, growing the account to 130k+ followers, Scotty got busy with his own business @kimberleyspirit and the @kimberleyspiritfoundation, while Liss had many things on her plate including @exploringedenbooks.
Kununurra local, Beth Ironside, assisted our founding duo and continues to be part of the Kimberley Australia team.
What's Next!
In 2021 Scotty handed the reins over to a family with deep Kimberley roots and although we've been a little slow to pick up the pace, we consider this a privilege to continue to bring you the country that's forever in your heart and blood once you've experienced it.
As we look to the future with continued growth, the heart and mission of The Kimberley Australia (Destination Kimberley) will remain foundational. We're excited to create further connection to our special part of the world by bringing you stories from local characters, travelers, artists and operators.
